Course Requirements:

Attendees must bring the following:
Laptop Configuration:

  • CPU: 2.0 GHz or higher
  • OS: Windows XP Professional OR Windows 7 Professional
  • 2 Gigabytes of RAM minimum
  • Wireless Network Capability
  • DVD/CD Combo Drive
  • 40 Gigabytes of Free Space on the Hard Drive
  • Microsoft Office with Excel OR OpenOffice w/Calc
  • Latest version of Adobe Reader
  • Laptop user account must be configured for Administrative level access

Additional Items to Bring:

  • Thumb drive: 2 Gigabytes minimum
  • One External USB 2.0 or Firewire Hard Drive, 20 Gigabytes or better
  • Old IDE hard drive, between 2 and 10 Gigabytes

Please arrive at least fifteen to thirty minutes early on the first day to sign up.
You will need to bring a government issued photo ID such as a Drivers License or Passport to be eligible to sign in on the first day of the course. AccessData FTK version 1.8.5 will be installed on your computer on the first day of course. During the course, you will be provided with a USB License Dongle that will enable the software. The USB Dongles must be returned at the end of each class and at the end of the certification test. Participants of the Digital Forensics Examiner course may purchase an AccessData FTK software license at a discount (The license and accompanying USB dongle will work with all versions of AccessData FTK).

The award of CEUs* and college credits* is contingent on attending all five class days in full and succesfully passing the Digital Forensics Certification Exam with a minimum passing score of 85%.

Certification Exam Requirements:

At the time of the exam, you will also be required to present a currently valid government issued photo ID. Acceptable IDs include: Passport, Driver's License (must conform to EDL/EU/EEA format), National ID Card (Sweden and Schengen Member States only), Military ID (NATO member states only).
