Founded in 1905, The American Club of Sweden is based on the principle of promoting the American spirit of hospitality and cooperation in Sweden. The Club's objective is to strengthen bonds between the United States and Sweden. In 2003 American Citizens Abroad in Sweden merged with the American Club of Sweden. American Citizens Abroad (ACA), the voice of Americans overseas, is a non-profit, non-partisan volunteer organization founded in 1978 that represents the interests of Americans living and working outside the U.S. to the Executive Branch of the U.S. Government, the U.S. Congress, and the U.S. Federal Judiciary to ensure that Americans overseas are treated with equality and fairness. ACA keeps Americans overseas informed and supports their role as informal representatives of the United States. Headquartered in Geneva Switzerland, ACA receives no subsidies or aid from any government agency either U.S. or foreign. It is funded only by membership dues and voluntary contributions from around the world.
